What is employer shared direct primary care?

Direct primary care (DPC) is the practice of delivering high-quality, provider-led care to employees independent of traditional employer-sponsored insurance. When a company offers Direct Primary Care, they pay, or split, the membership fee for the employee as an additional benefit to their healthcare package. Direct Primary Care is a direct relationship between the care provider and the patient, rather than having the insurance company as a middleman.

I’ve never heard of Direct Primary Care (DPC), is this a new option for business healthcare?

DPC is a relatively new movement in the healthcare space in response to rising healthcare costs and has become a very popular solution over the past 5-10 years. There are currently tens of thousands of businesses across the country who provide a DPC membership for their employees.

Is DPC a cost “in addition” to our current health insurance?
